I <3 bonsai trees

And I have one. A carmona- a little tea plant, lovingly named Riku. I was worried I was over watering when leaves started to turn yellow and drop. It’s not a case of dry top soil prompting a water but the soil a bit deeper down.  I water as and when but still the little leaves yellowed and dropped. I appreciate now it’s probably under stress poor thing. Being bought from a commercial garden center who employ teens- as if they know anything about plants or taking decent care of them; it’s now been repositioned on my North-easterly window sill. So I’ve stressed it out and the finicky little plants gone all stroppy and dropping leaves in protest- BUT ALSO, also due to stress it’s seemingly gone and gotten invested with mealy bugs. Long tailed ones too for that matter. They are like tiny white aliens drinking my poor mini tree’s life source. I’m concerned these nasties will jump ship and infect my other plants- my palm, my heather, my numex chili, some new plant I bought and haven’t identified yet (my cyclamen is safe in the bathroom).

So far I’ve resorted to drowning the freaks in soapy water and will now be waiting for the tree to protest against that…possibly by dying. I’ve noticed too that my numex is a bit buggy so that’s gonna be drowned with pesticide tomorrow too. Its a friendly chemical that claims you can eat the fruit of sprayed plants within 4 hrs of application so perhaps the tea plant won’t mind that too much. Short of supplying the aliens with booze I’m not sure what else to use to kill them without having to spend money.

We shall see. I’m now going to go on a bug hunt and check my other lovelies. Can’t be doing with fluffy vampires killing my greenery.

…new plant is Protasparagus densiflorus Sprengeri.
